Insurance, Covers and Waiver

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)
Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) limits the driver’s liability in the event that the rental vehicle is damaged, subject to the terms of the rental agreement. Rather than the full cost, the driver is generally only responsible for the first portion, known as their ‘excess’ this protection applies to all authorized drivers of the rental car.
Third-Party Liability (TPL)
Third-Party Liability (TPL) covers the driver’s liability for damages caused to any property, excluding the rental car itself. TPL also covers injuries suffered by other people, whether or not they are in the rental car, subject to the terms of the rental agreement
Theft Protection (TP)
Theft Protection (TP) limits the driver’s liability for costs incurred by the theft of the rental car – or damage incurred by the theft or attempted theft – to an ‘excess’ amount, subject to the terms of the rental agreement. TP does not cover personal effects, which may be covered by the driver’s own travel or household policies.

• Third Party Liability in respect to damages, death or bodily injury in accordance with the Cyprus Law.

Tyres & Mileage
The tyres of the rental vehicle will be replaced as necessary resulting from normal usage. Tyre replacement due to negligence and punctures will be at yours’s expense and a replacement vehicle will be provided at an extra cost. 
Unlimited kilometers

Maintenance
The rental charge includes routine servicing every 12,000 km or six months (whichever comes first). Repair costs arising from normal wear and tear are also included in the rental charge. Additional servicing or repairs required to the vehicle as a result of driver’s negligence will be charged to you.
It is your responsibility to ensure that the oil, water and other fluid levels, and tyre pressure are regularly checked and maintained as per the manufacturer’s manual. Failure to carry out these checks may result in damage to the vehicle that will not be considered as resulting from normal wear and tear, in which you would be responsible for all repair costs incurred.
This is your responsibility to keep the vehicle in a clean state at all times.

Not Included in the Rental Price

Mandatory Local Charges
Valeting Fee - Whatever your rental agreement, you will be required to pay a cleaning cost if the vehicle requires more than the usual standard cleaning on its return to restore it to its pre-rental condition, allowing for fair wear and tear.
Driving Charges
Customers are responsible for all toll fees, congestion charges, speeding tickets, parking fines & traffic fines - and all associated administration costs.
Incident Administration Fee (IAF)
In Case of an accident due to the renter’s liability, the renter has the obligation to pay to KEM a non-refundable fee of €100 to cover administration expenses.

What you need at pick-up

Acceptable forms of payment
You are required to have a Credit Card for your booking.
The main driver must be in possession of a Credit Card in their own name when picking up the car. The Credit Card must have enough available funds to cover the excess / deposit amount (which will be blocked on the Card for the duration of the rental). The Credit Card will also be charged for local fees, extra equipment and anything purchased additionally at the car hire counter.

Please Note:
We will not accept prepaid, recharge or virtual cards – or any card on which the relevant characters are not raised (‘embossed’).
Visa Dankort cards are not accepted.
License Requirements
When picking the car up, the main driver and any additional drivers will need to provide an original driving license in their name.
All drivers must have held their driving license for at least 3 years.
An International Driving License is required if the driving license is printed with non-Roman Alphabet.
Forms of Identification
A Passport or ID is required.
Rental Voucher / eVoucher
When picking the car up, the main driver must present their Voucher / eVoucher, which is issued after your booking is confirmed. A voucher proves that the rental is booked with the customer’s name and that it's paid for.
Age Requirements
The minimum age limit for renting a vehicle is 25 and maximum age limit is 72.
An extra €7.50 per day must be paid to the car hire counter if your age is between 18 and 25 years old or above 72. The car-hire Company’s age-related charges and restrictions will apply to all additional drivers.
Arrival Details
Flight Details - If you are arriving by plane, you must provide us with your arrival flight number at least 3 days before your rental is due to start. If you do not, we cannot be held responsible if your plane is delayed and as a result your car is not available. Please be ensured that you enter your flight number and not any other number the airline may have sent you, such as a confirmation number.

Fuel Policy, Extras

Cover Agreements
At the car hire counter, you may decide to buy additional cover to reduce your excess, or to cover things your Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) doesn’t, such as tyres, windscreen and oil sump. Policy excludes things such as windscreens, glass, wheels, tyres, undercarriage, interior, personal belongings, towing charges & off-road time – as well as any ‘extra equipment’ hired such as child seats and GPS devices.
Note that your cover will be invalidated by negligence, refueling errors or breaking the terms of the rental agreement (for example, by driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs).
Fuel Policy
The customer has the option to choose at the time of the rental between 1.FULL to EMPTY or 2.FULL to FULL policy. The car is always FULL at pick-up. If the choice is FULL TO EMPTY then the petrol must be pre-purchased and paid to the car hire counter at the pick-up and at the drop-off the car must be as empty as possible. No refund will be given for petrol left in the car. If the choice is FULL TO FULL then the car must be full at drop-off. If not, the petrol missing from the tank must be paid along with a €25.00 administration fee.
One-Way Rentals
If you arrange to pick the car up in one location and drop it off in another, we’ll charge a one-way fee of 40 EUR to cover the cost of returning the car to the original location. 
Prior notification is required for all one-way rentals. If you drop the car off at a location other than the one originally agreed you will incur a charge of 40 EUR.
If you arrange to pick or deliver the car to or at your hotel or any other location than our designated offices there is a 40 EUR charge for each Drop off or Pick up.
Outside Office Hours
If you require the car to be available outside of normal office hours, whether for the pick-up or the drop-off, we will arrange for a member of our staff to be available. Prior notification is required for this service and it will incur a fee to cover additional man hours. The cost of this service will be confirmed to you before your departure date.
Cross-Border and Boundary rules
Customers whose travel plans include crossing the island borders or travelling to different parts of the island within the same country must advise us before they pick the car up. Restrictions may apply which may require the customer to pay additional fees. Customers must inform us of any cross-border travel as restrictions may apply where the car cannot be taken. Customers must return the car in the same condition as when taken from our offices. Before crossing the border there is a requirement of purchasing the insurance they offer, as our insurance will not cover the customer on that part of the island.
Extras
Extra accessories are available and must be paid to the car hire counter. Baby seat is €4.50 per day, Booster seat is €3.00 per day and GPS is €8.00 per day.
Deliveries and Collections
Prior notification is required for a collection service. The cost will be paid when signing the rental agreement. The cost of this service will be confirmed after you have made the booking and you have confirmed with us.
Taxes & Fees
The company has the right to charge the customer with the amount of 100 EUR if they involve us in a situation  requiring back and forth emailing that is irrelevant  with the vehicle rented and especially when the problem involves a third party.

Equipment (Payable at Counter)

Pay locally extras and equipment
Additional extras should be requested at the time of booking and paid directly to us at the time of pick up.
Extra Equipment Conditions
All the “extras’’ selected must be paid at our office at the pick-up.
Additional extras will be subject to any applicable sales taxes and location taxes.
Additional Drivers
The cost to add an additional driver is 4.50 € per day. The car hire company’s age-related charges and restrictions will apply to all additional drivers.

Car Hire Company Important Information
• To make sure you understand the rules and laws about driving hire cars at home and abroad, it’s essential you read the Terms & Conditions before you leave to pick up your car. In particular, please make sure you know what documents and other paperwork you must take with you (e.g. driving license, forms of identification, and payment cards) and what you’ll need to pay for at the car hire counter. By making this booking, you are confirming that you have read and accept our Terms & Conditions.
• When you pick your car up, we will need you to sign a rental agreement. Please make sure you read it carefully – and if anything is not clear, discuss it with our staff before you sign it.
• If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us. You’ll find our opening hours and contact information on the Contact Us page of our website.
• If you run into any problems during your rental, just call the Emergency phone number, which you’ll find at the top of your rental agreement. If you are calling outside normal office hours, you will have the option of talking to someone in English or leaving a message and a contact number – after which we will contact you as soon as possible.
• All of our agreements require a deposit .The deposit may be reduced accordingly if you buy extra insurance. We do not offer any agreements with the amount of 0 EUR for deposit or less than required even when you buy extra insurance.
• Lost Keys - If you lose your key(s), you will be charged the cost of replacement plus other form of costs.
• Seatbelt - passengers must wear seatbelts, wherever they’re sitting in the car.
• Please be aware that all cars have a non-smoking policy. Fines will apply if this policy is not adhered to.
• Price Calculation - Prices are based on the pick-up and drop-off times and dates that you agree before your rental starts. If you pick the car up any later stage or bring it back any earlier, you will not receive a refund for unused time.
• At pick-up, you may choose to take a different car of the same category, rather than the one reserved.
• All our vehicles must be returned to our station clean and washed as provided.
• We do not make reservations for any specific car; we make reservations only for the groups that our vehicles are categorized in or similar and we are not responsible if the space of the car you booked is not enough for all the people or all luggages. 
• If you do, they may be charged an additional premium, even if the new car is smaller than their original choice.

Accident or Breakdown 
In the event of a breakdown, accident or mechanical difficulties, you must call us immediately. We give authority for repairs or replacement cars. Please keep copies of all documentation you are asked to complete. This may be needed if you wish to make a claim. For accidents, a police report and an incident report from the car hire counter will be required.
In the event of any damage or accident to the rental car or rental replacement vehicle, the police must be called within 24 hours of the incident and before the vehicle is moved. Furthermore, a Company`s accident Report Form must be completed and a police report has to be provided to us. Should these documents not be obtained, then you will be responsible for all the repair costs of all damage occurred. The obtaining of these documents will be your responsibility.
Any vehicle involved in an accident /or breaking the law and/or where the driver/Customer is under the influence of alcohol you are responsible for all damages.
If you are involved in an accident; and the car "Rolls Over" onto the roof; you may be asked to pay an additional fee on top of the excess amount.
From the moment you have an accident during your rental, you will be charged for the full amount of the damage deposit. The remaining amount regarding your damage deposit (if the cost of damages is less than your deposit) will be returned to you when the damage case will be finalised. The case will be closed when the estimated price is finalized and we have the final conclusion from the insurance company for the responsibilities. In case it is not your responsibility we will wait for compensation of the cost of the damages from the insurance company. The vehicle will be replaced only with a new damage deposit, placed with the Company.

Cancellations & No Shows

Cancellation of Fully Prepaid Bookings
• You can cancel the booking before your rental is due to start or after the agreement starts and the money you have paid will be refunded, minus the cost of 3 days from the total amount of your booking/rental agreement:
o If you had booked the car for less than 3 days, then there will be no additional charge, but you will not receive any refund.
• If you fail to turn up at the agreed time and date, and/or to provide all the necessary documentation, and/or to provide a credit card with enough available funds in it, we may refuse you the car and the money you have paid will not be refunded.
No-Show
A ‘No-show’ is when you:
• wish to cancel but don’t tell us before your rental is due to start, or
• fail to pick the car up at the arranged time and date, or
• fail to provide the documentation that’s required to pick the car up, or
• fail to provide a credit card in the main driver’s name with enough available funds on it.
In all of these cases, you’ll receive no refund of the money you’ve paid. We reserve the right to refuse the car to any customer who fails to arrive on time with all necessary documentation and a credit card with enough available funds for the car’s deposit and rental fees. In such a case, unless the rental has been cancelled in advance, the customer will not be entitled to a refund. 

Amendments
You can amend your rental online, free of charge, at any point before your rental is due to start. Certain amendments could affect the rental price, such as location, car group or time or date of rental, if this does occur, you will be charged at the current published price, which may be different from what you originally paid.
Please call us if your pick-up time is less than 48 hours away and you wish to amend your booking.
Please note: prices are based on the pick-up and drop-off times and dates that you arrange before your rental starts. If you pick the car up any later or bring it back earlier, you will not receive a refund for unused hours or days. If you have the agreement for a long term rental (with the extension of the agreement every 30 days) and you bring the vehicle earlier, you will not receive a refund for any unused days.

Extensions:
If you wish to extend your agreement you must inform any KEM office before your rental agreement ends and it is only possible to extend it by both the request & confirmation of KEM office.
1. If your agreement was created from a booking you made online, then one of our Partners which is in charge of our website can extend the agreement only with the daily rate of KEM company. The daily rate depends on the availability of vehicles and the season.
2. The company has the right to reject your request for the extension of your agreement with no further explanation.
3. Every extension must be prepaid.
4. If your agreement is terminated and you have not returned the vehicle you will not be covered with insurance by our company.

Replacement vehicle
A replacement vehicle for any damaged vehicle can only be supplied following the submission of the Accident Report Form and with the new deposit.
